Lemmings — manual

History

Lemmings was created by Dundee studio DMA Design and published by Psygnosis, first appearing on the Amiga in 1991. The idea grew from an experiment in drawing tiny animated people, then became a puzzle game about managing a crowd by assigning a limited set of skills. Its mixture of indirect control, large simulated groups and dark humour made it one of the defining Amiga games, followed by conversions to many other computers and consoles.

Controls

Move the pointer to control the original on-screen cursor. Click the primary mouse button to select 1 Player, 2 Player, New Level, music, or difficulty.

During play, click a skill icon and then click a lemming to assign it. Use the left and right edge controls to scroll the level. Click the paw-print panel or press P to pause and unpause. Press Tab to toggle between 50Hz (PAL) and 60Hz (NTSC) timing. The nuclear option retains its original icon control.

In two-player mode, Player 1 uses the pointer and primary mouse button. Player 2 moves the second original cursor with the arrow keys and uses Enter as the primary button.
